A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an better serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional victory, took control to push for a third set.

He saved 4 early break points in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he secured the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
